Samuel's first soccer practice

Samuel is so excited to be playing soccer for the first time this fall. Here he practicing his yearbook pose with his tough soccer face! (I know he still looks like a nice kid trying to be scary!!!)

And this is his friend Laithe. Laithe and his family come to our church and had signed up for soccer at the same place we did. How surprised were we to find out they had been put on the same team!!! They are practicing their soccer faces here. (Hey intimidation is part of the game right?)

Homeschool Week 3- SCIENCE!!!

This week the kids started their science curriculum. They are studying weather. However the first lesson was on the earth and how there are laws of nature. In the pictures the kids are demonstrating the second law of thermodynamics which is all objects tend to come to a state of rest. (what this has to do with weather I do not know!!!!) But the kids had fun anyway. The kids touch the ball to their noses and then once they let go the ball never touches them again.


I agree with that law except when it comes to kids!! Here is Isabelle disproving the second law of thermodynamics!!!! (I don't know if she ever rests!!!!) She is also pretending to be a gymnist!!

Homeschool Week 2- still hard at work

Samuel is practicing his cursive letters. It has helped his handwriting a lot!!! (Yes, we are still in our pj's, no we don't do school in pj's everyday!!! Eventually we do get dressed)
What Samuel does, Abby wants to do too.
But there is no time better than excercise time! Actually the kids are doing exercises while saying the sounds of the letters. It gives them a chance to work out there excess energy from sitting still, and they learn too!! (aren't I creative?!?!?!-not my idea, read it in an email!!)

Isabelle does school too!

Many of you have asked "what do you do with Isabelle while you are doing school with Samuel and Abby?". The answer: she sits in her high chair and "does school" with us. Briefly!
Of course then she ends up naked in a toy tub!!! (well, most of the time she is still clothed, just not today!!) Hey at least she isn't writing on the computer. I know, those crazy homeschoolers.

The First Day of School

Today is our first day of school. It went well, with only one person crying. (No, it wasn't me!) Samuel and Abby are both very excited to be in school again. The best part about our school time................. it can be done in our pajamas!!
Isabelle sat in her high chair and played with playdough and crayons. (yes, I keep her confined with all writing instruments!)

Samuel's teeth dilema!

Isn't he cute? He has lost two more on the bottom (as you can see in the picture), but what you don't know is that his top front two teeth are also loose. Yep, he is looking like a Kentucky raised boy!! Fortunately I know these will grow in!!

Women's Convention with my mother

My mom and I spent a great weekend together for my birthday at the National Women's Convention in Chattanooga Tn. We had great fellowship and great food!! Hey, I am pregnant so I love to eat.
We even got to eat lunch at my favorite little hole in the wall in Chattanooga called the pickle barrel. Great food, but sitting on the roof was a little scary! These are our friends that came with us this year.
And this is one of our favorite signs. Used cows? Is that like used cars? Does a cow depreciate in value as fast as a car? Where do you buy new cows? If you get together a used boy cow and a used girl cow, do you get a new cow or a young used cow? (my intellect is to much isn't it?)

Swim Time

As with the rest of the country it has been HOT here. No better place than the pool!! Some of these pictures are from July 4th, but are representative of where we spend our time outside! (can't stay in because Isabelle draws on everything! Two words: SIDEWALK CHALK)


Why do we spend time in swim lessons if Samuel is spending more time in the air than in the pool?

The Mann Family Reunion

We had a great weekend visiting with Mae's family at her annual family reunion. We did have some down time while waiting to check into the hotel. Never fear, Grandpa's here!!! What does Grandpa never leave home without? If you said American Express sorry your wrong. If you said Mae, while that is sweet, also wrong. The answer: Golf Clubs. The kids got a quick lesson in the parking lot of the Super Eight.

Cara goes Domestic!!

While Brian and I were in North Carolina in June the wonderful Bowen girls took on the endeavor to help me learn to sew. I made Abby's apron (yes, all by myself!!) and they made one for Isabelle and me. The girls LOVE to wear their aprons especially when we are in the kitchen washing dishes. I am catching on to this homemaker stuff. (no I don't want a sewing machine for my birthday!!!!!!)
